CHRISTINA (CHRIS) GLOMB for County Clerk

WHY did you want to run for this office?

I am running for Harrison County Clerk because the voters need a choice of candidates. Unfortunately in Indiana we have single ticket voting so many of the residents of the County will never realize Iā€™m on the ballot. As a Democrat there are so many races in Indiana where there will be no Democratic choice for many County offices, I wanted to make sure Harrison County was not one of them.

What strengths can you bring to this job?

The job of clerk entails so many things which most of the public probably do not realize. The Indiana State Board of Accounts Library has a four (4) page description of all the duties of the office. As a Labor Relations Specialist while working at the United States Postal Service (USPS) I worked extensively with Labor Unions and Management, researching through contracts and arbitrations to support my arguments during cases assigned to me. While serving as Postmaster of Borden and New Washington Indiana I was tasked with forming and maintaining budgets for both workhours and building maintenance and supplies. It was also my duty to manage stamp stock and money orders for the offices. I worked with the public and had to field both questions and complaints on a daily basis, both as a Postmaster and a Letter Carrier. I feel my work with the Postal Service more than qualifies me for duties of the County Clerk.

What changes would you like our county to make?

I believe our Clerks office does a great job for our community. I rarely hear any complaints. I plan to walk into this job relying on the current staff to assist me. I believe we have a good system set up for our elections and the only thing that needs changing, in my opinion, is to make some of the instructions more user friendly to poll workers. I would love to be able to get more community members involved in elections. I will work tirelessly to ensure that our elections stay safe and fair for all involved. There is so much hatred for election workers in this Country, no matter what party they belong to, and I want to make sure this does not happen in Harrison County.

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF.

My family has lived in Harrison County for 32 years. Ken and I met while serving in the United States Marine Corps in 1986 and moved to Georgetown Indiana in 1992 at the end of my enlistment. We have three wonderful children, Beth who is a junior high social studies teacher, Andy who is a USPS Letter Carrier and our wonderful daughter in law Ashely who is an RN. As retired Postal Workers Ken and I enjoy camping and riding our motorcycles around the places we visit and around Southern Indiana taking in the countryside. I am excited to be able to have a chance to serve in government again as I believe it is a privilege and one that everyone should have the chance to do.
